Connecting your domain

A domain you already own - from GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace or anywhere else - can be your site's address. It takes two records where the domain is registered. We do the rest, the padlock (HTTPS) included, and email you when your site is live there.

Whether its two records point here yet. Nothing changes on your domain.

1. Start on your site

In your site's settings, open Domains and choose Connect a domain, then type it. The screen shows the two records, with your domain's name in them. No site yet? Start your free trial: your site is live a minute later, at an address of ours, until your domain is connected.

2. Add two records where the domain is registered

Open the domain's DNS settings (where to find them is below) and add these two. Remove any other A record for @ - a parking page's, or an old site's.

TypeName (host)Value (points to)
A@3.137.74.222
CNAMEwwwyourbusiness.com

Email at your domain keeps working: these records don't touch its mail (MX) records.

3. Where to find the DNS settings

  • GoDaddy: My Products, then DNS beside the domain. Delete the A record marked Parked.
  • Namecheap: Domain List, Manage, then Advanced DNS. Remove the URL Redirect record if there is one.
  • Squarespace (and old Google Domains): Domains, the domain, then DNS. Remove Squarespace's own records for @ first.
  • Porkbun: Domain Management, then DNS beside the domain. Delete the ALIAS and CNAME records Porkbun added for its parking page.
  • Network Solutions, Bluehost, IONOS and other hosts: look for Domains, then DNS, Zone or Advanced DNS settings.
  • Cloudflare: the domain, then DNS, then Records. Set both records to DNS only (the grey cloud).
  • Somewhere else: look for DNS, Zone or Name server settings. If the domain uses another company's name servers, the records go there.

4. Then wait a little

New records take a few minutes, sometimes a few hours, to reach everyone. We check every few minutes; once the domain points here it gets its padlock by itself, your site moves to it, and we email you. Its old address keeps working and leads to the new one.
